With visitors from home and small children around, it's clear that our daily rhythm has shifted a bit. Fortunately, we're not getting up at 6 AM, but more around 8 AM. On the flip side, there's no peace until around 10 PM, and many days we are truly exhausted and ready for bed!
We had breakfast separately, and then the others set out on the big trek down to our caravan. They enjoyed their time in the caravan, but it's quite hot in there, so they prepared to head to the beach. The paddleboard was inflated, and we walked out to the beach at our end. There's an inflatable obstacle course on this beach that looked really tempting for both kids and adults, so that was the goal. However, it was quite far, so the paddleboard turned into a boat where 4 kids + Frank could sit while the women pulled the board to the water's edge. Kenneth had the honorable task of being the mule and securing a spot on the beach :)
At the inflatable play area, it became clear that the two youngest kids couldn't go out there, especially for 2-year-old Nicolas, who has fantastic enthusiasm. The older ones were allowed, and the adults took turns keeping an eye on them and even trying out the obstacle course themselves. It was great fun for both performers and spectators... The youngest ones played at the water's edge, painted on stones, enjoyed ice cream, and had a great time until it was time for a lunch break in air-conditioning. The rest of us have become a bit more resilient on this trip, so we stayed and got our money's worth from the play area.
We met up again in the late afternoon and took a dip in the neighboring pool since the one from yesterday was closed on Mondays for cleaning - a completely new concept for us! After that, Sara and Kenneth went to the caravan to change and fetch some "restaurant entertainment," and we all met up at one of the campsite's restaurants. Nicolas didn't make it through the whole dinner, so Caroline went ahead and put him to bed. The rest of us invaded their small apartment for some adult conversation while the three older kids had a good time in the other room. The scooters they had brought along were invaluable when we drove back home to sleep.
