We got off to a good start and headed towards San Vincenzo, to Hu Park Albatros Camping. I think we've been here before with Christian, Karina, and Mads. It's a huge place!
Anyway, on the way, we exchanged some text messages with Naja's friend from school, Mathilde, who was also on vacation in Tuscany and was driving from Pisa to Florence. We were close by and agreed to meet up for a short while. However, it's not just any city where you can easily maneuver such a caravan... The others were quick and found a large parking lot, so at least we could get in and park. That part went smoothly, but it may not have been the most charming place on the outskirts of Florence :-) However, with the help of Google Maps, we found a small spot in a concrete building that looked like we could grab some lunch. We barged in with our group of 8, and there were definitely some curious looks. There were three types of pasta dishes served cafeteria-style and a few cold options. Despite their difficulty in communicating with all of us, we could simply point to what we wanted, and they would bring it to the table and tally up our orders at the end. It was a fun place with a local vibe, and it was great to say hello to someone from back home. It's definitely something the girls will remember in the future too.
We arrived at the campsite a bit later than expected and were in dire need of a swim, as the temperature had crept up into the thirties. Phew... We took a dip in the pool (it's a bit further down to the sea, but we should be able to walk there), and during the evening, we went for a stroll to explore the surroundings, unpacked, and found the supermarket.
I forgot to mention yesterday that Naja got some beautiful braids with jewelry in them, so I'll also send a picture of that.
Dejligt at møde nogle hjemmefra.
