Today, it was Naja's turn to decide, and she had a taste for adrenaline! However, we had to limit her choices a bit and also discuss what things cost. After some research and checking out local offerings, we decided to purchase Kärnten Cards, which are tourist cards that provide access or discounts to most of the tourist attractions in the area (they're quite good at advertising with signs and banners, so we spotted various offers!). To get the cards, we had to visit the tourist office after they thoroughly checked our passports!
From there, we had a busy program for the rest of the day. We started about 100 meters away at Family Wald, which was a climbing course suspended between the trees up high on the slopes. It was quite a climb to get there, and Kenneth took the observation post at the top while Sara did the first round in the nets to check it out before declaring "free play." It quickly turned into nearly two hours of fun, and then we could descend using a kind of slide. Of course, we had to try that too, so we put on harnesses and made a slow glide to the bottom. It wasn't as wild as we had hoped, but it was still fun!
Next, a quick lunch at a café was on the agenda, but it was okay because there was a nice playground next door with a view of the lake, and it stayed dry. Afterward, the request was for a trampoline park (one hour free with the cards we bought, so fortunately, the stay was limited!), which more than lived up to the kids' expectations. They jumped, hopped, and did cartwheels until their cheeks turned bright red, and we had to force them to take a water break!
One might think that was enough for one day, but on our way back, we happened to pass a tall lookout tower (admission was also included), so we had to stop there as well! It's called Pyramidenkogel and is about 65 meters high, standing at an altitude of 912 meters. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of nearby lakes and smaller mountain peaks. Our lake was on the other side of the mountain, so we couldn't see our campsite from up there, but otherwise, it was a fantastic view. Kenneth and Naja were brave enough to climb the 441 steps up, while Sara and Georg took the elevator. For an additional fee, you could ride down what might be Europe's longest slide (about 50 meters in height and 100 meters in actual length!). The two little speed enthusiasts had to try it, while both parents passed. Georg was just tall enough with the approximately 130 cm he's grown to this summer. They came down in about 22 seconds (!!!) and had starry eyes when we caught up with them, hoping for another turn! They didn't get it, but Naja thought she had chosen the best day of the vacation... (fortunately, she's had that feeling many times along the way).
In classic Sara and Kenneth style, we set out on our trip without shopping first, so when we wanted to do groceries on the way back, all the supermarkets were, of course, closed so late on a Sunday! We found a small local restaurant on the way home and had really good food, but after such a long day, we were all too tired to truly enjoy it. There's always room for improvement...
