Plitvice National Park - Day 56

(English version below)

One of the wishes for the week was to visit Plitvice National Park, but it was several hours away, so we slowly gathered the courage! We've also had a bit of trouble with the extra battery in the caravan and had found a small shop that exclusively sold batteries. We had an appointment with them at 12 o'clock, so we were a little pressed for time. The plan was for the kids and grandparents to drive ahead to the park around 11 o'clock (after we had a quick swim and burned off some energy before the long drive).

Sara and Kenneth drove up and tested the battery, which was 'dead' (meaning it had lost a significant portion of its charging capacity), so they recommended a new one. We bought it and got some discount in exchange for leaving the old one. A good deal as long as everything works as expected when we install it in the caravan. It will be great to use the small remote control again to maneuver the caravan into place - it's quite heavy to push around by hand!

We met at the national park a few hours later and opted for the 2-3 hour walking tour, which was the shortest route (also in terms of time). It was an incredibly beautiful walk, starting from the top of the waterfall (on the opposite side) and descending to lower levels and then continuing alongside a couple of smaller lakes with their own waterfalls. Then back up to the top. Apart from the fact that there were a lot of people, causing us to stand in line on the narrow wooden bridges to get up close to the biggest waterfall, it was a lovely tour. The time in line wasn't wasted, though, as we spotted a small snake in the water, which left a big impression. The highest waterfall drop was 78 meters, so even though there wasn't a lot of water, it was an impressive sight.

It was nearly 6 pm when we drove back, and we decided to stop for dinner on the way. We chose a restaurant by the road that had a sign saying 'truffle shop'. Yum! We had to try it... The truffle shop was inspiring with plenty of samples and all sorts of truffle variations, so we bought a few souvenirs to take home :) However, the food at the restaurant had probably never seen a truffle and was, to put it mildly, not impressive. After that, we headed back home in the two cars and went straight to bed after a long but great day.
