Now, everyone has had a day to decide the day's program, and it has been fun to see what attracted them the most. We've become fans of the discount cards we bought, as it makes it easier to show the "catalog" and make a free choice when you know it doesn't cost anything. We've extended our stay here because of that and would like to see a bit more, so the days of decision are starting again. Today, it's Sara's turn.
There was a bit of a battle for the spots in the double bed (mostly because of the cooler temperatures at night), so early in the morning, the adults sat in their camping chairs with a blanket and would have preferred to sleep for another half hour. The rest of the family seemed to think the snuggling concept had worked well and stayed in bed until almost 10! (Under normal circumstances, it's unheard of for them to sleep that late, especially the youngest.)
Anyway, when everyone was up and we had had breakfast, we drove to Turracher Huhe, a small ski resort in the southern Austrian Alps. Here, we could take a chairlift up with our cards and enjoy the view, a super nice play area with water courses, and a short walk designed for children with some obstacles along the way. They also received a "punch card" where they had to find 6 stations and stamp their card, so they could get a prize when they came down. We had lunch in one of the ski huts, which made us a bit nostalgic for ski vacations! I, for one, ordered goulash soup for lunch :-)
On the way down, both young and old wanted to try their Rodelbahn (a type of alpine coaster). It wasn't included, but it was definitely worth the money! Wildly fun, even though the kids preferred to ride with Kenneth because Sara drives like a snail...
On the way home, grocery shopping was on the agenda, but we also made a stop at a sports outlet store, where they took everything off the shelves! A new pair of shoes/boots for the whole family and new ski clothing for the little ones + a few extras! We also spent the last of the pocket money on a few larger items, which were unpacked as soon as we got back. It was nice to be able to make some healthy food at home and relax for the rest of the day. We also had to put some cream on our red noses since we hadn't brought sunscreen this morning, as it was all about long pants and jackets ;-)
